"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As

we are liberated from our own fears, our presence automatically liberates others."

Khushi Ki Talaash

(In Quest of Happiness)
Created by 6 tInmates of Udaipur Jail, Initiated by Shikshantar Andolan
Udaipur Rajasthan, December 2018

This interaction was our first with jail inmates. We had no clue where to start or how to win the trust and create a space for them to tell their story. Clarity came amidst chaos when we connected to the feeling of imprisonment and saw that we too have felt imprisoned in our lives even without going to Jail. It was this feeling through which we connected with the inmates. They felt at ease to trust us, each other and share their pain and dream to be free through this artistic charcoal illustrated storybook.
